Connan Kublik was born in Edmonton, Alberta and enjoyed a wonderful childhood filled with family, books, music and outdoor pursuits. Christian faith has always played a role in Connan's life and there were hints, even in childhood, of his life's calling as he would often return from church and line up teddy bears and the family dog for an impromptu sermon of his own. Starting a degree at the University of Calgary in politics and international relations coincided with a time of deep personal searching over faith issues. Entry into adulthood meant that the faith of his parents was no longer good enough; he needed a foundation of his own. Studying the major problems in the world showed him though that political, economic, and philosophical solutions alone were not able to deal with the root issues that lead to evil, pain, and suffering in the world. Only God's revolution of human hearts enacted by Jesus is able to set all things right. After careful thought and study, Connan was convinced of the reasonableness and robustness of the Christian faith as well as the outline of his calling.
Connan and his charming and beautiful wife, Brenda, moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 2001 to allow Connan to study at Regent College (M.Div.) and to experience a challenging, practical three-year internship at Grace Vancouver Church under John Smed, a skilled and experienced church planter and coach. This opportunity gave him a much deeper understanding of the gospel of grace and a vision for starting new missional churches across Canada that would love and serve their cities. Time in Vancouver was followed by a return to Calgary for a church-planting apprenticeship at Woodgreen Presbyterian Church.
Connan's calling is to tell and train others in the gospel and its implications. The gospel is powerful because true transformation happens as it is heard and believed. He is working hard to be conversant in the language and stories of this culture so Jesus Christ's life, death, and resurrection can be clearly articulated to Hamilton, to Canada, and beyond. Connan, Brenda, and family moved to Hamilton in the spring of 2007 to begin New City Church along with a small group of people in Hamilton whose vision for a church that loves and serves the city closely matched their own. Brenda and Connan have four children: Kira, Brysan, Evan, and Rylan.
Moses Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to Toronto at the age of nine. After becoming a Christian in his early teens, he began serving actively as a lay leader in his local churches. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1999 with a B.A. in Philosophy, Moses eventually found himself in Columbia, South Carolina, where he earned his M.Div. at Columbia Biblical Seminary. During this time, he also served as a youth pastor for three-and-a-half years in Augusta, Georgia.
After marrying his wife Miranda, he accepted an offer to serve as an associate pastor at Westside Community Church in Toronto, where he oversaw a regional campus, led the worship ministry, and preached and taught regularly. He resigned from his position at the end of 2008 and Moses and Miranda became members at Grace Toronto Church under the leadership of Dan MacDonald. It was here that he formally began the ordination process within the PCA and was licensed to preach the gospel in early 2011. It was also around this time that Moses and Miranda accepted the call to move to Hamilton and join the New City Church staff.
Moses is an avid reader of novels, a long-suffering, blue-and-white-bleeding Leafs fan, a baseball junkie, and a lover of music, food, technology, and most of all, his beautiful wife and daughters, Evangeline and Emmanuelle.
